Overcoming Comfort Zone BarriersOne of the easiest ways to overcome comfort zone challenges is to know that they exist and to know when they pop up.

When you find yourself doubting yourself and thinking that you won’t be able to become vegan or sabotaging yourself and making it harder to become vegan, you can remind yourself that your mind is trying to bring you back to your comfort zone.

This will help you put those doubts into perspective and realize that you can achieve your goal of becoming vegan.

Learn about other people who are vegan. A while back, I heard a phrase that really stuck with me: “what one person can do, another person can do.”

Other people have successfully made the transition from omnivore to vegan. You can do it, too!

Look for vegans you admire and see if you can find interviews or books based on their experiences…

Take a look at your local bookstore or library, and you’re sure to find books by celebrities like Alicia Silverstone or Russell Simmons who love inspiring people about veganism.

Magazines like Veg News often have interviews with vegans from all walks of life.

As you move forward in your vegan lifestyle, there may be times when things become difficult and when your comfort zones try to pull you back to where you currently are.

It’s important to stay determined and focused on your desire to become vegan.

George Bernard Shaw once pointed out, “The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can’t find them, make them.”

If you really want to become vegan, stick with it and you can make it happen!

  2. I’ve been Vegan for almost a month now, and this article really hit home for me. And I will admit to sabotging myself on more than one occassion in the beginning; only to find that I felt worse not ‘comforted’. Thank you for the supportive words!

I feel like going vegetarian and now vegan has actually thrust me outside of my comfort zone. It’s opened me up to so many foods I likely wouldn’t have otherwise tried. It’s a lot easier than people think. I am never at a loss for a meal and I am always satisfied. I urge anyone who is thinking of making the switch to warmly embrace the lifestyle and the food that goes along with it. It’s been a great transition for me and I’ve found the vegan ‘community’ to be so friendly, informative, and supportive.
