Vegan Accessories
I don’t accessorize very well. I describe my style as plain or simple. (My loving husband says I am “classy.”)
Though I don’t use a lot of accessories in my daily ensemble, making sure the few accessories I use are vegan is key to my lifestyle. Fortunately, there are a variety of vegan accessories available for women and men.
Some of the more obvious accessories are purses, bags and shoes. Those are important and you definitely need to make sure they are vegan.
There are brands and websites that only sell vegan handbags and shoes. I am currently coveting a Susan Nichole handbag. The company is totally vegan and makes beautiful stylish handbags and they do a giveaway every week on Facebook.
The important thing with shoes and handbags is checking the label to make sure it is totally man-made. And it doesn’t hurt to take it a step further and try to purchase items whose manufactures also have the environment in mind with the manufacturing of our stylish vegan accessories.
Other less obvious accessories are things like scarves, headbands, jewelry, watches, belts, and ties. Scarves (especially the warm fuzzy winter ones) often have mohair or some other fur product.
Now the animals aren’t always killed to collect these cozy materials, but that doesn’t mean that there life was anything fun. And simply by the definition of vegan we agree not to consume or wear anything with animal products.
I have been seeing a big trend in headbands and jewelry as part of a Bohemian look. Keep an eye out, as these often are made from leather.
You may be able to find vegan alternatives at places like PayLess. They tend to keep the cost down by not using real leather, which is good news for us and the animals!
Men’s and women’s watches and belts are very often made out of leather as well. There are also a lot of alternatives out there for these items as well. Check out places like Alternative Outfitters and Moo Shoes for great alternatives.
Ties are another accessory to watch out for. They are almost always made out of silk unless you specifically seek out vegan ties.
The bottom line is to always check the label, just as we do with packaged food. If the product isn’t clearly labeled, consider giving a friendly phone call the company to confirm if the material is vegan or not.
Whether you find that the product is vegan or not, you know for sure and you have let the company know that there is a demand for vegan accessories.
What are your favorite vegan accessories?

Which Susan Nichole do you have? I wore my first one out! Right now I’m in love with my Love bag in eggplant. The only time I don’t use my peace wallet is when I’m using my little black clutch…plus their stuff is eco friendly, always a good selling point for me. A lot of items that are animal prduct free can be made with so much toxic crap it isn’t even funny.
Added bonus? I had to email them about something and not only were they super nice but very friendly.
Yup, I’m a huge SN fan! Alternative outfitters is great, too. I love their irregulars section on their site. Makes things a bit more affordable, & even more unique. I could talk about this stuff forever… can you tell? Lol
So great to see options for fashionable vegan accessories! I’ve got my eye on the Lexi in Black clutch
